What is Alarm System made up of?

Alarm systems come in all sorts of configurations to suit every budget and lifestyle, however the basics ones are:

  • The control panel Essentially this is where the system is controlled from. If yours is a monitored system then this is where it's connected to the phone line.

  • Key pad This is your control for turning the security system on or off. Usually it would be found at the front or back door and you would need to enter a code for it to activate.

  • The siren The noisy alarm that goes off, letting you, your neighbourhood and the intruder know that the security system has been breached.

  • Window and door Reed switchesThese are perimeter security switches which activate your alarm if an intruder attempts to force open a door or window.

  • Motion detectors The passive infrared detectoc (PIR) detect intruders in and around your house or business premises. Choose either a wired or wireless version to suit your property. Also available in pet proof.

    What is back to base monitorint

    Back to base monitoring means the alarm system is programmed to call a central control room. The alarm system is programmed with a client code which identifies the alarm type and its owner.

    Domestic Dialling

    Domestic Dialling is a feature programmed on the alarm system o dial a client's landline or mobile phone in the event of an intrusion.up to 5 telephone numbers can be programmed depending on the system. A modern alarm system has the capability to send alarm tones, voice or SMS.
